Board members are essential for non-profit governance and work with the Executive Director to deliver on the agency mission. An organizational support position for volunteers with experience and interest in business planning, policy development, agency governance and fund development.

Open volunteer opportunities:
Youth Volunteer
Opportunities are available for students 14 years and older, looking to fulfill 40 hours of community involvement or complete high school co-op. Positions include working with younger girls in after-school programs, research for programs, office maintenance and special events.
Commitment: open (position available Monday-Friday 9:00am-7:00pm, some weekends)
Special Events
A versatile position to help with Girls Inc. events such as Fundraising events, the Annual Prom Prep, Community events, Snowflake Ball, etc.
Commitment: 3-4 events annually
Committee Members
A support position for volunteers interested in active participation in the community on one of the following committees: Fund Development (soliciting donations, sponsorships and identifying potential funders), Special Events (brain-storming and planning specific aspects of the event), Nominating (recruit board members, select annual Girl’s Awards recipients), Outcome Measurements (project management, statistical analysis).
Commitment: varies by committee, seasonal and annually

College/University Placement Student
Opportunities are available for students looking to complete a placement in a community setting working with children/youth 6-18 years old in Community Studies (Social Work, CYC, ECE, SSW). Please contact the Girls Inc. of York Region Team at info@girlsincyork.org with a resume and cover letter attached for an interview.
Commitment: open (position available Monday-Friday 9:00am-7:00pm, some weekends)
